Today, I received an email from a student from North Dakota wondering why I have no mention of David H Houston as the inventor of the rolled film camera, who sold his patent to George Eastman. Well Angela, now I do have a reference to David H Houston. However, the jury is still out for me as to Houston's exact role in the history of the rolled film camera. George Eastman did buy twenty-one patents from Houston related to photographic cameras, however, I would have to examine Houston's patents and compare them to Eastman's 1888 patent to see how different Eastman's rolled film camera was from Houston's designs. I do credit Houston with inventing a portable and compact camera.

I’m doing a History Day Project on David Houston and I wondering how his actions left a legacy. Can You Help?
I am working with jack on this project and it would help us a lot thank you
