The Rubber Story

In 1852, a giant legal battle began over the patent for vulcanized rubber. Famed lawyer, Daniel Webster defended Charles Goodyear, who was in poor health after years of strugling to defend his innovation. During the trial, Daniel Webster described Goodyear's vulcanized rubber as being, "nothing less than elastic metal."
