A vacuum tube is a sealed glass or metal-ceramic enclosure used in electronic circuitry to control the flow of electrons.Vacuum tubes go back to 1875 when American, G.R. Carey invented the phototube. The vacuum tube was made obsolete by the tiny and cheap transistor invented in 1947. Until then, vacuum tubes were found inside every radio. television, computer, and almost all other electronic devices.
Vacuum Cleaners
Needed to clean the tubes. Not! Just joking folks. However, did you know that early vacuum cleaners were large, horse-drawn and petrol-driven units that were parked outside the building to be cleaned with long hoses fed through the windows.
