The concept of an aerosol originated as early as 1790, when self-pressurized carbonated beverages were introduced in France. BTW In 1949, canned spray paint was invented by Edward Seymour, the first paint color was aluminum.Photo: Daniel Nagy for StockXchng
Speaking of Cans
The first tin cans were so thick they had to be hammered open. As cans became thinner, it became possible to invent dedicated can openers, making possible wonderful products like Cheese in a Can and Campbell's Soup.
Can You Can-Can?
Not a true invention folks, however, fun blog fodder. According to Streetswing, "The Can-Can is a hybrid of the Polka and the Quadrille and was said to be first danced in 1822, and by 1830 was being outlawed for a number of years as immoral and indecent." The word Can-Can means "Scandal or "Edge" in French, referring to how the dancers performed on the edge of the stage. The Can-Can was considered indecent because the dancers exposed their bare legs above their stockings, not to mention their frilly panties.

Sirs; May I inform you of the latest dances that may have escaped detention as to the origination? The dance mode termed, “Hip Hop” originated with me a few years back as I talked with a marketing scout on the streets of Aberdeen, Washington, who was looking for something in the musical industry to put on the market. I immediately told him of a movement that my parents did, ‘way back when, called, “Hip Hop”, and he did make good use of the information. —arthurpruett@yahoo.com.
