Thanks to Tim McNerney for letting me know about that the Intel 4004, the world's first single chip microprocessor, was not used on the Pioneer 10 spacecraft. According to Dr. Larry Lasher of Ames Research Center, the Pioneer team did evaluate the 4004, but "it was too new at the time to include in any of the Pioneer projects." Drawing of Intel 4004 chip by Mary BellisThanks goes to Christine of British Columbia for suggesting I update our section on Canadian Inventor Organizations - Funding & Support. If anyone knows of a local inventor organization based in Canada that I could add - please leave a comment with the url or information. Or requests for which province I do next.
