When the Wind Stops Blowing and the Sun Sets
Thursday August 28, 2008
Green inventor Michael Nakhamkin has signed a $20 million partnership deal with New Jersey's largest electric utility, PSE&G, to develop Compressed Air Energy Storage (CAES) devices that will compress air to store power and increase energy production from wind turbines and solar cells. Nakhamkin's invention will store energy underground in the form of compressed air, when the demand for electricity rises, the air is released to turn a power turbine. The demand for energy has peak and off peak cycles, and the energy available from wind and sun sources changes. Michael Nakhamkin's planned device will take advantage of, and help solve the problems these cycles create.
