Jacob wrote to me with two suggestions for llinois under American Inventors by State. Jacob wrote that, "the dishwashing machine was invented by Josephine Cochrane in Shelbyville, IL. ; and barbed wired was invented by Joseph F. Glidden of Dekalb,IL" Thanks Jacob, while the dishwasher was invented in llinois, Josephine Cochrane was not, she was born in Ohio. My grandfather, William Pinkney Hornbuckle, of North Carolina, Invented and patented the first “Package Dyeing Machine” in USA. The Patent was issued in the 1920′s and the machines are still manufactured by the Gaston County Dyeing Machine Company in Mt. Holly, NC , a company my grandfather founded. The machines are used for dyeing yarns and other things under intense pressure. It has been very useful in the Textile Industry around the world.
