Heah did you see those crazy new ads for Intel? The ones where Intel inventors are fawned over as if they were rock stars? According to the chip making giant Intel, this is their biggest marketing campaign in nearly 3 years and the first that spotlights the promotion of the Intel brand and not a product.

In the print ad "Your rock stars aren't like our rock stars" a grunge rock 'n roll band looking cool in sunglasses and jeans behind bright stage lights; is juxtaposed against two bespectacled computer engineers sporting white lab coats in their techy environment. But these aren't just any engineers. As the ad copy explains, they are the designers of the very first microprocessor. "Back in 1969," the ad says, "Intel 4004 blew people's minds wide open". A bio of each inventor and engineer portrayed in the ads (plus lots of other fun) is on the campaign Web site. And check out the Rockstar wmv starring Ajay Bhatt, the co-inventor of USB.

I just saw this commercial for the first time and loved it immediately! I blogged about it, named my own rock stars, and asked you to list yours, at http://tinyurl.com/r7at4r. I’d love for you to visit and contribute!
Very cool. I have six patents at Motorola but I never got that kind of reception.
