fireworksDeveloped by the ancient Chinese, fireworks are the oldest form of rockets and the most simplistic model of a rocket powered by gunpowder. Did you know that certain types of explosive fireworks for example: cherry bombs, M-80s and others were made illegal by federal law in 1966? Or that in 1996, a string of firecrackers were lit that banged for a full 22 hours, to celebrate the Chinese New Year in Hong Kong? Photo: Mary Bellis
