Who is Ray Kurzweil?

Sunday July 5, 2009
ray kurzweilIn my opinion, Ray Kurzweil is a futurist full of confidence that technology will save us and the planet. And I want to live in Ray Kurzweil's vision of the future with its promise of immortality and computers smarter than human beings. Hmm.. just like Battleship Galattica?

Ray Kurzweil is also an inventor, prize-winning author, and nanotechnology advocate. Matter of fact I had the pleasure of attending the very first nanotechnology business alliance conference in NYC years ago, where Ray Kurzweil was a key speaker and guest of honor. If you ever get a chance do take out one of his books from your local library.

(1) Pegi Nelson says:

Mr. Kurzweil would be very interested in meeting my husband Rod Nelson. Rod was the first to patent and use a laser beam to lay a reference line when laying pipeline. He then went on to invent a robot miner that retrieved 90% of a seam of coal without disturbing the earth above it or the water table. For the last few years he has been working on the prototype for his patented internal combustion engine, it is simple in design, not a hybrid, almost zero emissions, can use any fuel, including the biofuels and promises to give 100 mpg’s in a full size SUV, which we will prove when competiting in the Progressive Insurance Automotive XPrize next year. This can be sized for use in any vehicle, on or off the road as well as electrical generation. Yes, as always inventors will save us, Rod believes simple is better, saving costs and harmless to the environment.

Having read science fiction since it started as Fantasy some 60-70 years ago, I have enjoyed few people as much as Mr. Kurzweil.
Heis a visionary, and his contemplations must be taken seriously.
His current field of nanotechnology offers such great promise and peril that people who care about the species will take heed of warnings, and endeavor to prevent the kinds of hazardous research that could endanger the human race.
“Mad scientists” need not apply.
