Have you every wondered why the initials YKK are stamped on most zippers?
That's because today most zippers are made by a Japanese company founded in 1934 called YKK, the largest manufacturer of zippers originally called Yoshida Kogyo Kabushikikaisha after the company's founder.
YKK has over 205 zipper factories in 68 different countries around the world. Their largest factory is in the state of Georgia, USA which produces more than 7 million zippers per day. Photo Credit: Morguefile

Who gives a rat’s a** about a zipper making conglomerate – it’s just overgrown business!
Jim says who gives a rats. Well I do. I bought a Lightning zipper shop fitting box and collect zippers. I’ve spent time searching and doing a tech college project on the history of zippers. Next time you are in a hurry in the bathroom just think about your life if you had to undo 5 or 6 buttons before you relieve yourself.
