Pioneering biodynamicist and flight surgeon with the Luftwaffe during World War II, Theodore Hannes Benzinger invented the ear thermometer. David Phillips invented the first infra-red ear thermometer in 1984, the kind we use today. Dr. Jacob Fraden, CEO of Advanced Monitors Corporation, invented the world's best-selling ear thermometer, the Thermoscan® Human Ear Thermometer.
Tennis shoes or rubber soled "sneakers" were first made in the United States in the late 1800s - no one knows who invented them. Traditionally white sneakers are worn while playing tennis - sneakers were invented first and then someone decided they would be great to wear while playing tennis.
Norm Larsen and the Rocket Chemical Company invented WD-40 in 1953.
