Newsgroups and Mailing Lists
A mailing list is (usually) a group of people who exchange e-mail about a subject that interests them. Joining a mailing list means, you will receive mail on the subject and you will be able to post and receive answers to your own questions or comments. Mail is sent to a single address and forwarded to all the members belonging to that list. Mailing lists have a strong sense of community and if you are truly interested in a topic, it is a great place to meet people and make valuable contacts. It is not the place to send unrelated and unsolicited advertisements or comments. This could result in your removal from the list.

The Inventors Meeting Place is an excellent mailing list for inventors; participants include many experts active in the inventor community. You can mail a request for an "info" file to the server address, listserv@home.ease.lsoft.com. Put this single line in the body of the mail message: info INVENTORS

You can also mail a request for a general "help" file to the server address, listserv@home.ease.lsoft.com. Put this single line in the body of the mail message: help

This should also give you instructions on how to join (or leave) the group. Keep the instructions handy, in case you wish to quit or temporarily stop the mailing list.

On the next page are extracts from the mailing list to give you an idea of the quality and content. Note: I have changed all names to initials and removed all email addresses. Some of the postings have been condensed for brevity's' sake.
