Cecilia "Dee" Bennett is one of the best known hybridizers of plantsespecially roses. Bennett was born Cecilia Lucy Daphne Panten in 1921 in Australia, and came to the United States as a young war bride in the 1940s. The miniature apricot rose, "Jean Kenneally," is one of her most popular varieties. Jean Kenneally, for whom Bennett named her rose, said she was "a genius in a mans world."
