Anybody can feel unmotivated at times or overwhelmed by challenges. So how do you get yourself motivated and inventing again?If you are overwhelmed by your goals it's time to break them down into manageable hunks. If you have an overwhelming big goal that has you intimidated, break it down into steps and even if you are unsure of the all the steps to come at least you know what to focus on next. For example, focus on perfecting your prototype and not on the sales pitch you might be making down the road. Focus and enjoy the task at hand.
Motivation can be affected by your emotional state of mind, however, you can pump yourself back up. Keep an inventors journal (you should be doing that anyway) and read old entries. Take a look at where you made progress and relive the feeling. Instead of feeling stumped or stymied feel challenged and anticipate the moment you overcome what is challenging you currently.
Watch your negative thoughts and reprogram them into positive ones, for example, "I'll never get all the money I need to do this" could be "I am so excited to find out how I'm going to get all the money I need". There is nothing wrong with bolstering your self esteem about your goals and pumping up your own enthusiasm in such a manner. Don't successful people always seem to be very positive?
As inventors we can't always talk completely about what we are inventing. However, show your enthusiam to your family and let them encourage you.
