Three-Dimensional Model Map

An unusual example of a three-dimensional model is this map of the Crown Prince Islands in Disco Bay on the west coast of Greenland that was constructed with sealskin and driftwood by Silas Sandgreen, an Eskimo hunter. The map was commissioned by the Library of Congress in 1925 through the efforts of the Secretary of the Navy, Admr. Richard E. Byrd, the noted Arctic and Antarctic explorer, and the Danish government.
