Auto-Tune SUCKS!

it's literally destroyed the art of singing. I want go back to when there was no such thing as Auto-Tune and you had to actually pay your dues to get a break in the music industry. now all these people who have pitch problems but "sexy" looks get more credit than those who actually are talented. this must stop RIGHT NOW!

autotune is cheating

autotune is obviously cheating. Look at all the pop stars today. They are all good looking. People just go out and find the best looking people possible and make them famous by using autotune. The people that make me the angriest are the omes that aren't aware of autotune.
—Guest auto tune is cheating

its a tool

some people arn't the best singers, that doesn't mean they don't have tallent, maybe they are a fantastic songwriter?. or they don't have the time/money/patience to record and edit all the vocal takes. if you are a big huge artist that has engineers working for him there is no excuse for it. but if you are a smaller band that doesn't have to resources to hire an engineer to edit 30 takes of vocals it gives you the ability to produce a sound that can compete with big artists.
—Guest a little unfair...

...

Ofcourse it's cheating. Not only is it cheating, it's a major fraud. It's simply a money making scheme for these talented pretty boys and girls who have gotten numerous plastic surgeries. People don't care about talent anymore, that's gone out the door over a decade ago. Collectively, small things like this and talentless TV stars are ultimately going to bring down the world. Think about it, first auto tune, and then comes the "swag" era. Correct me if I'm wrong, but that's a downhill path, not uphill.

NO

First of all Good or Bad dosnt fit in with the question you should put in a yes or a no. And I dont think that Auto tune is cheating its just an amusing effect added into music. I like auto tune. If the artist dosn't like the idea of auto tune than he ? she shouldn't add it its a matter of choice.
—Guest unknown

mhmm

autotune is for people who cant sing. maybe if nobody used autotune, REAL talent would be on the radio.
—Guest fdkla;fvdas

good

it is a new way of working with a voice, get over it.
—Guest Bonny9

It Depends

It depends on whether you are trying to make people believe you are singing naturally when you are in fact using auto tune. In that case it is cheating. But if you use auto tune like T-pain and are trying to get a unique robotic sound, then it is not cheating, it is creativity.

no

It allows musicians to provide "cleaner" music to the paying customers
—Guest alan

yes

They have it for vocals and for instruments too. Soon one will just have to look good and not have any talent and that is just not right. It's like Milly Vanilly~
—Sherra1

Of Course

it makes someone with barely any talent, automatically have enough "talent" to make millions. all that ke$ha does is talk to a beat, act slutty, and let others change her voice so it really is unfair that it wouldrd for someone to get noticed with professionals using professional auto-tune
—Guest Dbro85

Somewhat

It is only cheating when the whole song becomes Auto-Tuned. Art vs Science from Australia is a prime example of what good auto-tune can do without becoming an overload.
—Guest Scott

No

Its not cheating, but overuse is a problem. Then its sounds too good to be true, I like vocals to sound natural.
—Guest Its

No

Cheating is not the right word. Overdone is. It can be way overdone.
—Guest Musician

Absolutely

Of course it is, it turns music from a medium of talent and dedication into one of pretty faces and dancers. At least years ago, when artists had to do take after take in order to get it right, they eventually had to get it right. Now, they don't even have to try, they just leave it to the engineers to spend tedious hours correcting every syllable of a song. It just proves that if you concentrate on shaking your ass and show no concern for your lack of a shred of vocal talent, you can eventually be chosen to judge whether future talents can sing or not.
