- Agree with Chuck. Nikola Tesla's contribution to modern technology is immense. Also Richard Trevithick for the steam locomotive, Werner von Siemens for his work on electric traction and William Shockley, the 'father of the transistor'.

- Based on the inventions/developments and their impact on modern technology and culture Tesla is, at least in my opinion, vastly superior to Edison. Tesla is probably the least recognized and most downplayed inventor despite having come up with some of the most significant inventions. Much of his work has also formed the foundation for several popular modern technologies such as lasers and cell phones.
