By , About.com Guide

Have you ever tried an electronic cigarette or e-cig? How do they compare to real cigareetes? Did e-cigs help you stop smoking tobacco? Do you think e-cigs are safe? Would you smoke an electronic cigarette in public? Do you think people should be able to use e-cigs in places where smoking tobacco is prohibited? Share Your Experiences

Tobacco Free

Had been a smoker 20 plus years, enjoyed smoking but hated the health effects from it. Had used gum, herbs, and quit therapy to no avail probably due to enjoying smoking. Found this product , it is more than significantly less toxic than smoking, yet I still get the sensation of smoking only I am vaping. I am working my way down on nicotine dose started at 24, then 18 now 12 when I reach 0 I may just continue vaping for the pleasure of vaping that mimics smoking but is not smoke.

outdated

the original article is outdated. the supreme court ruled in response to a lawsuit filed by the FDA that e cigarettes are NOT considered a "drug delivery device" but as a tobacco type product and should be regulated as such. furthermore, there are over 4000 deadly chemicals in largely measurable amounts in regular cigarettes. the chemicals detected in e cigarettes are not even close. in response to the claim that e cigarettes contain "anti-freeze" chemicals, those have been proven to be completely and totally FALSE in the use of vegitable glycerine in e cigarettes, and in such minute quantities in propylene glycol based e cigarettes that it is nearly immeasurable. the whole issue over e cigarettes in the first place was (do the research) the FDA feeling they werent in control of something that they thought they should be, and werent getting the monies they felt they were due. my opinion? tuff. i started e cigs and went from 3 packs of real smokes a day to NONE overnight. go figure.

I'm a fan

I've tried one but I do not own one. Compared to real cigarettes, they taste much cleaner, and they can give you a serious nicotine buzz. I'm not too sure how safe they are because my friend has one that malfunctions and spits out large amounts of nicotine every once in a while. I would totally smoke one in public. I do believe people should be allowed to use them in places where smoking tobacco isn't because there is no risk of receiving second hand smoke. I do believe we should get rid of disposable e-cigs because they increase our amount of "e-waste." Basically, nicotine and battery acid are both terrible for the environment, and most electronic recycling facilities do not accept e-cigs
