- In 1945, my father was scheduled to ship out to mainland Japan. They gave him his orders, along with a last will and testament to complete. That meant that more than likely, he and all his fellow American soldiers were not coming back from Japan. Six days before he was scheduled to go, the bomb was dropped on Hiroshima. I think about what would have happened to my dad, how I wouldn't be here, how the war would have continued on and more people from every country involved would have died, and I think about how Japan should never have attacked Pearl Harbor the way they did. That was cowardly and despicable. I think the devastation to Japan was horrible. I feel for all the innocent people that lost their lives and suffered because of the atomic bomb. I blame the Japanese government of that time above all others. Do not awaken a sleeping giant if you don't want to accept the consequences, and that includes the suffering of your own people.

End Justified the Means
- The fire bombings of Tokyo killed more people then the atomic fission bombs that were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Why then is there little discussion on mass annihilation by conventional weapons? The atomic bombs ended WWII without doubt. More people would have ultimately died if Japan were invaded and brought to surrender by conventional means. Innocent lives would have been lost and many more American soldiers would have perished. It is tragic that the people of Hiroshima and Nagasaki had to suffer the horror of those atomic weapons, but hopefully evidence of the pain they suffered will be sufficient deterrence to ever subject other human beings to the destructive power of nuclear weapons. There is some logic to the concept of Mutually Assured Destruction and the prevention of further conflict on the magnitude of the great world wars.

- Ofcourse the japs were wrong but destroying human race is not an option. imagine if USA drops 100 nukes in middle east and IRAN drops 2 in USA the overall effects are the same bcoz 100 nukes kills already dead pple but 2 nukes kills living pple .So I dont really think there is a super power on this globe bcoz once 1 nuke is blown , there are several nukes blown inturn killing . - We all know that If we hadn't droped the atomic bomb we be faceing deaths in the U.S. But there were other ways as well...they would have then some time but a lot more lives could have been saved. Not only that there wouldn't have been as much radio active damage in the enivorment.

- Yeah like he/she said; They help us end wars, but do we really need to kill mass amounts of people to stop violence? It makes absolutely no sense. We will all end up with a canceruos disease and die from it if we ever have to drop another bomb. It causes sadness and just ruins the peaceful world we should be protecting.
