bad
- i think this bombing was wrong, it killed many people, and they never got a hint of what was going to hit them.

so so
- they help us end wars, but they cause damage to our environment and are nearly impossible to get rid of

necessary
- The Japanese gave us no choice. We warned them that there would be swift and utter destruction if they did not surrender. They knew that meant the atom bomb because they knew about the manhattan project and our tests in New Mexico. Even after we dropped the first bomb they didn't surrender, forcing us to drop a second bomb.

AMERICA'S NUCLEAR FANTASY
- ACCORDING TO OUR HINDU MYTHOLOGY, AND OFCOURSE, MY EXPERIENCE OF 48 YEARS OF LIVING ON THIS PLANET, ONE ALWAYS GETS BACK WHAT HE GIVES TO OTHERS. SO, AS PER THIS BELIEF, AMERICA HERSELF WOULD SURELY TEST THE HORROR, SHE IMPOSED ON JAPAN, SOONER OR LATER.

when i'm the only one who has them...
- the use of the nuclear in japan is often justified by the cruelty by the japanese army toward it's prisoners and it's conquered yet the abuse of prisoners in iraq is at par with the worst mistreatment by any regime we codemn. Would those victims justify the use of the bomb against us? We cannot expect to prevent the proliferation of the bomb and threaten it's use at the same time. We should try to be nice and promote mutual cooperation not destruction. There is always some idiot willing to use the bomb, he doesn't care about you or me. There are numerous military plans that strategize a nuclear war win. Lets stop this nonsense. Thank you and lets have a nice nuclear bomb free day

A Lesser Evil
- The creation of the atomic bomb was a necessary evil. Sure, its detonation killed thousands of lives in an instant, but it ended world war II which for me was a greater evil, since Japan has no intention of surrendering and at that time. Post war, this also paved the way for non military use of nuclear research which can be life saving (Radiation therapy in cancer patients, nuclear imaging in medicine etc). All in all, the discovery of nuclear technology is not bad, its how we use it that matters.

the use of nuclear weapon
- bad for our planet, radiation, storage cost, safety cost and disposale cost.

Inevitable
- America developed a viable nuclear weapon shortly before the Russians. Someone would have done it, within that time frame. The world is lucky that we beat the Soviets. And, as far as the bombing of japan is concerned, far fewer people were killed, then would have died, if an invasion were necessary. All in all, I am fairly pleased with the way history played itself out. After all, Stalin likely would have treated the west as badly as he treated the satellite states.

Bad
- Coz the people of Nagasaki and Hiroshima were affected leading to the deformation in their lives

in human
- nuclear weapons usage is very bad and inhuman way of wiping out the human civilization refined over the milleniums. reminds the necessity of limitations on any thing, let it be freedom or religion, grddyness, etc

Morons!
- Most, if not all, of the responses I see reflect how poorly educated, or misinformed, most people are today. What scares me is not the “bomb”, but the morons that have their fingers quivering over the “button”. Good article!
